Annville's 1st Floor Attic offers 'A little bit of everything'

Bill Santaniello has been collecting sports memorabilia and things that some people might label junk for much of his life.

He had been looking for a place to open a business to sell it for a while when he visited Annville. While in town, he noticed the vacant property at 149 W. Main St. that once housed a hardware store.

"I wasn't crazy about the place at first," he admitted.

But, after getting a look inside the building and seeing how spacious it was, he decided to sell his house in York County and buy the property when it was sold at a public auction.

"I wanted a busy road and a big store, and I got both," he said.

Soon after, Santaniello opened 1st Floor Attic.

The store's motto "A little bit of everything" is accurate, as it sells everything from antiques to sports memorabilia to DVDs and CDs to old books.

A big baseball fan, and, in particular, the Baltimore Orioles, Santaniello, has a lot of baseball memorabilia for sale.

"I didn't want to be just a sports shop because I don't think it's a good time for that," he said.

Santaniello said he gets a lot of stuff at auctions and estate sales.

"That's why I called it the First Floor Attic, because it's the kind of stuff you keep in the attic," said Santaniello, who lives in an apartment above the store. "You might not want it, but you don't want to throw it out."

"People love coming in here," he said. "They come in and just look around."
